Shambhala Retreat Magnetic Island Accessible Accommodation (Karuna Cottage) is self-contained and wheelchair accessible. The bedroom has a double bed, the second room has lounge and dining, with access to the bathroom, and the third room has a kitchen and partitioned sleep area with a bunk bed. Other cottages have three rooms and sleep 5 to 6 people. Book all three cottages for a holiday with friends and family.  The ferry is wheelchair accessible and a short 20-minute ride. Shambhala Retreat also has a wheelchair-accessible van for hire, or you can use the 40 minute car ferry.

Karuna Cottage is one of three self-contained cottages set privately amongst tranquil Balinese gardens, with cool sea breezes, salt water pool, a breakfast courtyard and BBQ area. Close to all facilities, beach and transport. Accommodation for the whole family.

Shambhala Retreat Magnetic Island Accessible Accommodation has its own wheelchair-accessible van that you can hire.

Sealink Ferry is accessible. Please click HERE  for a link to the information and to book. All vessel gangways operating ferry services are a minimum of 89 cm wide to allow access to most types of wheelchairs. Please note that all Cruise Ship Transfer gangways and some Charter gangways may not be wheelchair accessible (ie, 75 cm wide). Disability toilets can be accessed on Palm Cat, Fantome Cat, Coolgaree Cat and Maggie Cat. Travel time between Townsville and Magnetic Island is only 20 minutes.

Magnetic Island Ferry allows vehicles on board. Please click HERE for more information. Note that there are stairs for the deck; remaining in the car for the 40-minute journey is recommended.

Disability toilets are located in both the Breakwater Ferry Terminal in Townsville and Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal on Magnetic Island.

Only registered service animals are permitted at Shambhala Retreat. Must have certification paperwork. Pets in general are not permitted. BYO bed and bowls.

At Shambhala Retreat, enjoy the Balinese gardens, dip in the  (non-accessible) saltwater pool, have a BBQ with friends in the pergola, watch the birds from your breakfast courtyard, and relax with a good book. Hire Shambhala's wheelchair-accessible van or get the bus and travel the island - visit beaches, dine out at the many different cafes and restaurants, take a boat tour, spot the rock wallabies, go snorkelling or enjoy a nature walk.
