Stunning New Accessible Accommodation In Beautiful Bright

Beautiful Bright - Location Of The Bonnie Ray

Stunning New Accessible Accommodation In Beautiful Bright.

The charm of Victoria’s high country is matched by a new accessible holiday accommodation option, The Bonnie Ray.

North East Victoria’s high country has always held a special appeal to me. The natural beauty of the wooded hills and valleys are truly awe-inspiring, and it just gets better when you get to Porepunkah and nearby Bright. A region that has a magical, almost European feel to it and a season for everyone, from green gorgeousness and stunning floral displays in Spring to Autumnal hues from the many trees and shrubs. With Winter marking the popular snow season with nearby Mts Buffalo and Hotham. Summer is always better when enjoying the cool Ovens River that flows beside the townships.

So much space

The Bonnie Ray is a high quality, modern, elegant and comfortable family-friendly home that welcomes you with a big hug from the top of its picturesque vaulted ceilings to the soft grey carpeted bedrooms and practical timber-look flooring of the living areas.

Best of all, the open-plan design including wide 1.4 m hallway, 81 cm wide bedroom and bathroom entrances, and huge main bathroom with roll-in shower tick many accessibility requirements.

Well considered level entry and parking

The Bonnie Ray invites all with a wide, smooth driveway and weather-friendly carport – my rear entry Kia door had plenty of clearance for me to roll out undercover.

The front door has only a 1 and 2 cm lip either side of the front entrance. While the doorway threshold from the living area to the back deck is perfectly smooth with a custom-designed 1m wide ramp. We enjoyed the large deck which features the essential BBQ  (gas) and the choice of a generous low table surrounded by a lounge that seats many, or a tall bar-table at which to dine and socialise.

Chillax outdoors

As the evening descends the convivial fire-pit area is a logical progression and wheelchair users can either position on the lawn edge or roll around to the pebbled fire-pit area.

Without exception, the toilet, showering and bedroom facilities are of paramount importance to anyone with a physical limitation.

The Bonnie Ray boasts a huge bathroom that collectively accommodated my toilet/shower commode, wheelchair and transfer hoist, allowing me to enjoy the open design, roll-in shower fully. The large shower has a monsoon head on one side with grab rail, and a mid-wall mounted hand-held system on the other side, which we found very easy to use. The absence of a roll-under wash basin is worth pointing out however. The two ensuite bathrooms also include a smooth roll-in shower, one open and one with a large door. Although smaller, they are still generously proportioned, these ensuite’s would be great for many who are ambulant but require assistance.

Accessible bathroom

The bedrooms are all luxurious, and all queen beds have a 15cm clearance for hoists (the largest room has bunks and pull out mattresses to sleep another eight). The accessible bedroom is next to the main bathroom and easily accommodates a wheelchair and a hoist comfortably.

Room under bed for hoist

The spacious living area, including the study nook, offers a few recharging power points for mobility equipment. While the vast kitchen/dining area, with its sizeable extended table, under which a wheelchair easily glides, offers lots of room for socialising.

Luxe living

The Bonnie Ray is a perfect 2-minute roll/stroll from the Porepunkah Pub, the Rail Trail Cafe and the beautiful bridge, BBQ areas and smooth walking path on the banks of the Ovens River. The Bright Brewery is a lovely rail trail roll, stroll or bike ride away in Bright itself.
